The Kano State Police Command is taking fresh steps to strengthen grassroots policing as the Commissioner of Police,  Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, held a strategic meeting with members of the Police Special Constabulary at the Command Headquarters.

The meeting, according to the police boss, was aimed at “streamlining their operations and ensuring proper supervision for their effective performance in the maintenance of peace and security in the State.”

CP Bakori used the opportunity to review the operational framework of the Constabulary, aligning it with existing laws and deployment guidelines. He also addressed some of the key challenges faced by the personnel and offered fresh direction to boost their effectiveness.
Emphasizing the values of professionalism, discipline, and due process, he reminded the Special Constables to uphold the Force’s standard operating procedures at all times.

“It is important that you work closely with regular Police officers to achieve optimal results in crime prevention and response,” he said.

The meeting also allowed for open discussions, with officers raising concerns and seeking clarity on various aspects of their duties. CP Bakori encouraged them to keep asking questions where necessary, adding that guidance would always be available.

“Always seek guidance and clarification on any areas of concern,” he advised, noting that the Command’s broader security goals would benefit from their improved engagement.

The Commissioner also expressed appreciation for the contributions and efforts of the members of the Police Constabulary to the security of the State.
