Governor Inuwa Yahaya Inspects Damaged Infrastructure in Gombe After Violent Protest, Assures Residents of Government's Support and Security
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has conducted a thorough assessment of the damage caused by the recent violent protest in Gombe metropolis.
During his tour of affected facilities on Friday, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed deep concern over the extensive destruction of both public and private properties.
The Governor emphasized the importance of preserving peace in Gombe, a state known for its stability, and urged residents to resume their economic and social activities, assuring them of safety and security.
He commended the security agencies for their swift response and professionalism in containing the situation.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya directed the Ministry of Works, Transport and Housing and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the damages, with a view to providing support to those affected.
He also chose not to impose a curfew to avoid subjecting people to further hardship.
Locations visited by the Governor included the Gombe State Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Bima Lodge, Kumbiya-Kumbiya Primary Healthcare Centre, Blue Jay Motor Park, and Gombe Main Market, where he engaged with business owners and offered words of consolation for their losses.
The Governor's statement, released by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, on August 2, 2024, emphasized the government's commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the state, while also acknowledging the right to peaceful protest.
