The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has set a new record for its highest single-day revenue collection, generating ₦28.1 billion within 24 hours on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The Command collected ₦28,102,000,914.61, surpassing its previous daily record of ₦20.1 billion achieved in September 2025, shortly after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as Customs Area Controller.
The latest milestone comes barely weeks after the Command posted an unprecedented ₦323 billion revenue collection in July, its highest monthly performance to date, underscoring the sustained impact of improved compliance, trade facilitation, intelligence-driven interventions and digitalisation of Customs processes.
Oshoba said the latest achievement was about more than breaking revenue records, stressing its broader implications for the Nigerian economy.
According to him, “the achievement is not simply about figures or records, but about the contribution of the Nigeria Customs Service to the economic wellbeing of Nigerians.”
He explained that revenue generated by the Service contributes to government resources used to fund critical public priorities, including infrastructure, security, education and healthcare.
The CAC dedicated the milestone to the Federal Government and people of Nigeria, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the management of the Service for their support for modernisation, automation and reforms aimed at improving the efficiency, transparency and business-friendliness of Customs operations.
Oshoba also credited compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders, as well as Nigerians who provide actionable intelligence, for contributing to the Command’s performance.
He stressed that “every compliant transaction contributes to national development,” urging stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade.
According to him, a stronger revenue base gives the government greater capacity to respond to citizens’ needs while creating an environment conducive to business growth.
Despite the record-breaking collection, Oshoba cautioned officers and men of the Command against complacency, directing them to see the achievement as a responsibility to deliver even better results.
He emphasised that revenue collection must go hand in hand with trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders. He also directed personnel to resolve legitimate disputes promptly and ensure that Customs procedures do not unnecessarily hinder lawful businesses.
The Apapa Area Command said it would sustain its focus on revenue generation, trade facilitation, professionalism and stakeholder collaboration, with the recognition that every legitimate revenue collected strengthens the government’s capacity to deliver development and improve the lives of Nigerians.
