The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has been honored with a certificate of excellence for his outstanding public relations efforts during his first 100 days in office. This prestigious recognition was bestowed upon him at the 2024 SABRE African Public Relations Association (APRA) Awards, held in Côte d'Ivoire from May 13-18, 2024.

The SABRE Awards are the largest continental awards competition for the public relations industry in Africa, and receiving this recognition speaks volumes about the winners' exceptional level of creativity, integrity, and effectiveness in both public relations and governance. Chief Superintendent of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada, the spokesman of the service, who also attended the conference, expressed his pride in the Comptroller-General's achievement. "Securing SABRE recognition is a remarkable feat, and we are thrilled to see our Comptroller-General receive this well-deserved honor," he said.

In his acceptance speech, Comptroller-General Adeniyi expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the awards and acknowledged the hard work and dedication of his team. "I want to express my sincere gratitude to Image Merchants for their tireless efforts in promoting the Nigeria Customs Service. It has been four days of networking, meeting with people, and positive public relations, and I am optimistic that APRA will continue to wax stronger," he added.

As a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and an active member of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), Comptroller-General Adeniyi has consistently demonstrated his commitment to excellence in public relations and governance.
