Thousands Rally Behind Adeleke in Atakunmosa West as Traditional Rulers, Defectors Endorse Re-election Bid

Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke received a rousing welcome in Atakunmosa West Local Government on Friday as thousands of residents turned out in a massive show of support for his re-election campaign ahead of the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.
The campaign tour attracted an unprecedented crowd comprising party faithful, traditional rulers, women, youths, market leaders, religious leaders, community stakeholders, political office holders and supporters from across the local government, creating an atmosphere of celebration and renewed confidence in the Governor's administration.
A major highlight of the visit was Governor Adeleke's royal courtesy call on the Olosu of Osu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jethro Adejola, where he was warmly received by the monarch alongside other prominent traditional rulers, chiefs and members of the traditional institution in Atakunmosa West.

Speaking on behalf of the royal fathers, the Olosu commended Governor Adeleke for what he described as his people-centred leadership and the visible developmental projects executed across Osun State since assuming office. The monarch urged the Governor to sustain the momentum by extending more infrastructural development and social intervention programmes to communities within Atakunmosa West.
The traditional rulers noted that residents of the local government had continued to benefit from the dividends of democracy under the present administration, adding that the growing popularity of the Imolé Movement reflected the people's appreciation of the Governor's performance.

They also offered prayers for divine wisdom, protection and victory for Governor Adeleke as he seeks another mandate in the forthcoming governorship election.

Responding, Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude to the traditional institution and the people of Atakunmosa West for their warm reception and unwavering support throughout his administration.

He assured residents that his government would continue to pursue equitable development across all parts of Osun State, stressing that Atakunmosa West would remain a beneficiary of impactful projects and programmes designed to improve the quality of life of the people.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to delivering quality governance through sustained investment in infrastructure, education, healthcare and other critical sectors. He maintained that despite criticisms and attempts by political opponents to discredit completed projects, his government would remain focused on fulfilling its campaign promises rather than engaging in political distractions.
Another major attraction at the rally was the formal defection of several former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly from Wards 4 and 6 of Atakunmosa West Local Government, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defectors publicly declared their support for Governor Adeleke and officially joined the Imolé Movement, pledging to mobilise support across their respective communities to ensure the Governor secures victory at the August 15 governorship poll.

The campaign rally ended with special prayers led by the traditional rulers for peace, unity and a peaceful, free, fair and credible election in Osun State.
