NNPP Declares Presidential Position Vacant, Opens Door for 2027 Contenders

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) has declared the presidential position vacant, urging top politicians to leverage the opportunity and contest in the 2027 general elections.

The party also announced that nomination forms for all elective positions ahead of the 2027 polls will be free for any willing candidate.

Speaking with journalists in Lagos on Wednesday, NNPP Founder Dr. Boniface Aniebonam commended the court for directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include the party on the voting list server.

According to him, winning an election is not the main issue; rather, the priority is participation.

He argued that Nigeria does not operate a one-party system, while further stressing that the nation upholds a multi-party system, and the NNPP has what it takes to win key positions in the next general elections.

He noted “To become President of Nigeria is no joke—it involves a lot. The NNPP is open to anybody with the capacity to lead the country,” he said.”

Continuing, the founder hinted that “NNPP is a political party established in 2001. By the records, we have never been deregistered by INEC; instead, we are waxing stronger by the day.”

Aniebonam noted that the NNPP is not an opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) but a force to be reckoned with.

He reiterated that the party’s former presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has been expelled and urged him to seek redress at the Supreme Court.

Aniebonam described the NNPP as “the beautiful bride everybody is celebrating across Nigeria” due to recent court rulings

.”We have over 21 political parties in Nigeria today, and nobody can claim we are operating a one-party system,” he added.
