Oshodi-Isolo Chairman Moves to Fix Neglected State Roads, Sends Inspection Team After Residents’ Outcry

The Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, has ordered an urgent inspection of the deteriorating Ajisegiri and Oyegunwa Streets in the Ladipo area following a public complaint from a resident about the worsening condition of the roads.

According to a statement from his media office, Oloyede dispatched a team led by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Leke Banjoko, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the affected routes. The aim, the statement noted, is to gather updated, firsthand data that will strengthen the council’s ongoing engagements with the Lagos State Government.

The chairman clarified that the two roads are state-owned and were awarded to a contractor over four years ago, predating his administration. He added that the council had repeatedly notified the relevant state authorities about the poor quality of the earlier work done and the rapid deterioration that followed, urging that corrective action be taken without further delay.

Oloyede has since appealed to the state governor for swift approval to enable the local government to intervene directly and rehabilitate the roads.

During the inspection, the Chief of Staff assured residents that “Otunba Kehinde Oloyede-Almaroof's administration remains fully committed to improving infrastructure and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure a swift resolution to the challenges facing the Ajisegiri–Oyegunwa streets in the Ladipo corridor of the local government and the entire council area.”

The chairman emphasized that improving the free movement of goods and services remains a priority for his administration, and pledged that the council will not relent in addressing pressing infrastructural needs across Oshodi-Isolo.
