In a development reminiscent of the popular slogan *"Imole De... Okuku Parada...",* a delegation from the Osun State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, today, conducted an official inspection of the *last remaining untarred road leading into Ijesa land.* The road stretches from Oke Ibode through Muroko to Isale General in Ilesa.
Originally constructed in *1948,* the road has long been in a deplorable condition, despite its strategic importance to economic activities, transportation, food distribution, and regional connectivity. For decades, the residents of the area have endured neglect and broken promises from successive administrations.
So deep was the disillusionment that upon seeing the state officials arrive for inspection, one astonished resident exclaimed in disbelief, *“Ṣó ó tó ni... à bà ìrò?”* (Is it true or a lie?). His doubts were quickly allayed by Hon. Femi Oluwasanmi, Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State, who is also from the axis, by assuring him that the era of empty promises was over.
The press statement signed by
Hon. Femi Oluwasanmi,
Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State,
Secretary, Ijesa South SAs Forum,
Admin, Osun State Special Assistants Forum,
Date: October 2, 2025.
He stated that His Excellency, Asiwaju, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is a "talk-and-do" Governor and he is committed to transforming the road into a motorable and durable route.
Hon. Femi highlighted various completed and ongoing infrastructure projects across the state as testament to the Governor's commitment to inclusive development, even in areas that had long been overlooked.
Also, one of the kings in the area, the Olokebode of Okebode Ijesa, Oba Ezekiel Adeniran Agunlejika, thanked the team for the inspection and expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Governor. He emphasized the historical and economic significance of the road, describing its reconstruction as "long overdue." The monarch noted that past efforts by traditional rulers in the axis to get the road constructed had repeatedly met with disappointment.
He appealed to the Governor to expedite the construction, *stressing that this particular route is the only remaining untarred access road into Ijesa land.* The same sentiment was echoed by Oba Ademola Makinde, the Oloke Awo of Oke Awo, who was also present during the inspection.
The inspection marks a pivotal moment in the history of the axis, raising renewed hope that the long-neglected road will finally receive the attention it deserves under the leadership of our able, amible, charismatic and caring Governor, His Excellency, Asiwaju, Senator (D.r) Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, *(Imole...).*
