2024 LIMWEEK to navigate feature of African marine and blue economy

The Zoe Maritime Resources Ltd, has said that the 2024 edition of the Lagos International Maritime Week (LIMWEEK) and the International Maritime Business Conference and Exhibition would take place at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, September 10 – 12, 2024.
The Chief Executive Officer, Zoe Maritime Resources, Barr. Oritsematosan Edodo-Emore made the disclosure in Lagos during the weekend.
The event theme “Navigating the Future of Africa’s Marine and Blue Economy – Safety First”, is adapted from the Lagos International Maritime Week, 2024.
Edodo-Emore said that Maritime safety plays a key role in the actualization of Africa’s blue economy. The introduction of new technologies, alternative fuels and digitalization which had significantly impacted global shipping.
She said that the LIMWEEK 2024 would showcased the best of Nigerian and African maritime, networking and preferring solutions to issues connected with the continent’s marine and blue economy. Highlight of the event is a public lecture to be delivered by Engr Greg Ogbeifun, Chairman, Starzs Marine & Engineering Ltd.
Edodo-Emore said that to feature also is a roundtable on industry issues including Maritime Transport and Port Development, Maritime Security in the Gulf of Guinea and Maritime Law and Arbitration. Other topics are Marine Environment, Maritime Training and Education, Women in Maritime and Offshore Exploration and Seabed Mining.
She said that the LIMWEEK attempt to highlight and resolve challenges confronting African and Nigerian maritime in particular through providing an invaluable platform for stakeholders, regulators and policy makers to gather annually, brainstorm and provide solutions.
" It is a private sector initiative that has received the support of the Federal Government via the regular participation of the Nigerian Navy, Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and her parastatals. It is an international event that enables Nigeria to cement relationships with her trading partners.
"Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla leads a specialized roundtable on various aspects of the marine economy while Daniel Wiskett of the Royal British Navy joins as friends of the Gulf of Guinea. Ambassador Adenike Florentina Ukonga, immediate-past Executive Secretary, Gulf of Guinea Commission will also feature.
"Engr Felix Ogbe Omatshola Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) leads the charge on Nigerian content in deep shore. NIMASA Director-General, Dr Dayo Mobereola shares the role of the flagstate in safety of maritime assets in deep offshore.
"Enitan Solarin of Yao Insurance Brokers will throw more light on insuring maritime assets in deep offshore , while Stanbic IBTC bank will contemplate financing maritime assets in deep offshore. Dr Oladunni OWO of Blackgold Ltd and President of Women in Oil and Gas will also be on that panel .
"The Round table on Maritime Training Education and Law have constantly seen the participation of the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria and the President of the Nigerian Maritime law Association," she said.
According to her, Maritime Training and Education Sessions had been participated from major players in maritime training in the West and Central African subregion such as Capt. Emmanuel Duja Effedua, Rector, Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, Professor Iyiola Oni of the Institute of Maritime Studies , University of Lagos among other panelists.
Edodo-Emore said that the Roundtable on Women in Maritime, a great highlight of LIMWEEK, features Nneka Obianyor, Vice President, Women in Maritime of West and Central Africa, WIMOWCA- Nigeria. Presidents of WISTA Nigeria, Dr Odunayo Ani, WIMA Nigeria – Rollens Macfoy, Chairperson, WILAT, Khajidat Sheidu+Shabi and Barr. Gloria Kanabe, CEO, Hudson Gee will moderate.
She said that stakeholders expected to attend include maritime experts, government agencies, bankers, lawyers, doctors and insurance companies. Others are shipowners, logistics companies, freight forwarders, oil and gas companies, etc.
