Customs Pledges Support for Tinubu's Food Security Plan
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting President Bola Tinubu's food security initiative by streamlining processes to facilitate the swift importation of food items.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, made this known at the launch of a book, "Impactful Public Relations in Customs Management," in Abuja.
The book highlights the CGC's progressive public relations strategies, aiming to reduce costs and lower consumer prices.
Adeniyi emphasized the NCS's strong commitment to addressing food security challenges through targeted measures to intensify agricultural production.
The Federal Government has removed tariffs and import duties on key staples like rice, wheat, maize, and sorghum for six months to address high food prices.
Adeniyi noted Nigeria's vast agricultural potential, with only 40% of 84 million hectares of arable land currently cultivated.
The CGC expressed appreciation to Image Merchants Promotion Limited for publishing the book, recognizing its contribution to advancing public relations within the NCS.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, represented by Tope Fasua, commended the NCS for its role in safeguarding borders and boosting the economy.
Yushau Shauib, CEO of Image Merchants Promotion Limited, praised Adeniyi's transformative leadership and commitment to transparent public relations.
The book launch aimed to promote effective communication in public service, attended by distinguished guests, including NCS management, public relations stakeholders, and industry experts.
