Oyo State Government Conducts Land Title Verification Exercise

The Oyo State Government has launched a comprehensive verification exercise to authenticate land title documents in industrial areas across the state.

This move is aimed at boosting revenue generation, ensuring compliance with land use regulations, and promoting orderly development in the state's industrial sectors.

Led by the Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Funmilayo, the enforcement team conducted joint physical site inspections along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Oluyole Industrial acquisition areas. The exercise is designed to identify developments without formal integration or building plan approval, serve notices on illegal structures, and ensure timely payment of land use charges and other statutory fees.

During the exercise, the team visited several companies, including AP Filling Station, Valency Agro, Lebrony Agro Ltd, RCC Quarry Site, Ubereness Nigeria Ltd, and Jubaili Seed Company. They verified title documents, inspected development sites, and served notices on companies found to be in violation of land use regulations.

The government warned against illegal development and delayed payment of fees, emphasizing the need for compliance to boost internal revenue generation.

The exercise is ongoing, and the government has urged all companies operating in the state's industrial areas to ensure compliance with land use regulations and payment of statutory fees to avoid penalties.

The verification exercise is part of the state government's efforts to streamline land administration, prevent illegal development, and ensure sustainable development in the state's industrial sectors.

By ensuring compliance with land use regulations and payment of statutory fees, the government aims to boost revenue generation and create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

The team that went out for the enforcement included the Permanent Secretary (Lands) Mrs. Mofoluke Adebiyi; Special Adviser to Governor on Land matters, Hon Akinshete Olakunle; Special Assistant Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Dairo Lanre; General Manager on Private Networks Nigeria Ltd, Mr. Ladigbolu Ayodeji; Directors and some other staff of the Ministry.
