Boosting Maritime Security: FG Prioritizes Integration of NIMASA and Nigerian Navy Systems
The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing maritime security through the integration of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Command Control Computer Communication Information System (C4I) and the Nigerian Navy's Falcon Eye surveillance facility.
Minister of State, Defence, Hon. Bello Matawalle, made this declaration during a working visit to the NIMASA C4I center in Kirikiri, where he inspected the facility's operational model. He emphasized the importance of seamless synergy and information sharing among government agencies to ensure the security of Nigeria's maritime space and promote economic prosperity.
Matawalle stressed that the integration of the C4I and Falcon Eye systems would significantly enhance maritime security, as both platforms complement each other. He urged the Nigerian Navy and NIMASA to strengthen their collaboration, leveraging their respective strengths to ensure the safety of Nigeria's waters.
According to the Minister, improved inter-agency synergy and information sharing are crucial to achieving this goal. He expressed optimism that the integration of the two systems would yield tremendous benefits for Nigeria, fostering a more secure and prosperous maritime environment.
The NIMASA Director-General, who accompanied the Minister on the visit, echoed the importance of collaboration and information sharing in securing the nation's maritime space.
