Nigerian Shippers' Council CEO, Barr. Akutah, Embarks on Familiarization Visit to Port Harcourt Terminals
The Executive Secretary/CEO of Nigerian Shippers' Council, Barr. Pius Akutah, has concluded a familiarization visit to BUA Port and Terminal, Onne Multipurpose Terminal (OMT), and West African Container Terminal (WACT) in Port Harcourt.

 The visit aimed to engage with key stakeholders and familiarize himself with the terminals' operations.

During the visit, Barr. Akutah emphasized the importance of constant engagement with stakeholders to address challenges and achieve the goals of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and Nigerian Shippers' Council. 

He assured stakeholders of government's support and promised to take their concerns to the Minister for further discussion and resolution.

Stakeholders raised issues such as multiple taxation by Nigeria Customs Service, high and unstable dollar exchange rates, and the abandonment of Warri, Calabar, and Area 1 Ports. 

They also called for government engagement in policy formulation, provision of rail lines across ports and cities, and ease of doing business at the ports.

Responding, Barr. Akutah assured stakeholders of government's continued support and promised to address their concerns. 

He commended OMT and WACT for their investments and achievements, thanking them for their contributions to the sector.

The visit demonstrates the Nigerian Shippers' Council's commitment to engaging with stakeholders and addressing challenges in the sector to boost the nation's economy.
