Customs Personnel Need Retraining on Weapons Handling, Says Retiring ACG
The outgoing Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG), Zone 'A', Hammi Swomen, has called for the training and retraining of customs personnel in weapons handling to enable them to adequately protect themselves from smugglers.

Swomen made the call during his retirement ceremony in Lagos, noting that there is a huge gap in weapons training.

He also charged senior officers to mentor younger ones on revenue generation and suppressing smuggling, commending the present management's efforts on robust welfare packages.

Swomen appreciated his colleagues and prayed for wisdom for them to excel in their duties.

The ceremony was attended by top customs officers, who praised Swomen as soft-spoken, wise, thorough, and intelligent.

They commended his leadership and wished him success in his future endeavors.

The new ACG, Zone 'A', Saidu Yusuf, thanked the customs management for the privilege to serve and described Swomen as a principled and attentive leader.

Yusuf stressed the need to improve stakeholders' engagement to facilitate customs operations and assured that they would continue to move the service forward.
