LASTVEB gets 43 courses accredited, 12 new approval

The Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) has got 43 courses fully accredited and approval for the commencement of 12 new ones by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

The Executive Secretary of LASTVEB, Ms. Ronke Azeez said in a statement that the full accreditation of programmes offered by the five government Technical Colleges in Lagos State and approval for the commencement of 12 new courses by the NBTE was conveyed in a letter signed by Engr. A.D.K. Muhammad, Director of Vocational, Technical and Skills Development, NBTE on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Professor Idris Bagaje.

Azeez reiterated that the full approval is a testament to the ongoing transformation in the colleges and the commitment of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration toward the provision of quality technical and vocational education in the state.

While noting that the present administration is determined to ensure that LASTVEB produces highly skilled technicians to meet the needs of the industry and for self-empowerment, she added that the five Technical Colleges in Ikorodu, Epe, Ikotun, Ikeja and Badagry offer occupation-specific skills in Engineering, Construction, Business and Creative Trades.

The Executive Secretary emphasised that the accreditation and approval of new courses was the outcome of the inspection visits carried out by NBTE to all the Government Technical Colleges in Lagos State for assessment of programmes offered by the schools.

“LASTVEB is pleased with the result of the accreditation and inspection exercise. Due to the thoroughness of the process, very few states presented their technical colleges for accreditation, only Lagos and one other state were accredited this year”, she said.
