NEGF Marks 9th Anniversary, to Spotlight Retirees’ Welfare and Nigeria’s Economic Growth
The Nigerian Economic Growth Forum (NEGF-Initiatives Concepts) is set to mark its 9th anniversary with a lecture and awards ceremony focused on Nigeria’s economic growth, pension reforms and the welfare of retirees and veterans.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 12 noon, will take place at Presken Hotels and Resorts Ltd., Alade Avenue, off Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos.

The anniversary lecture, themed “Life After Retirement: Sustainability Challenges and Prospects,” is being organised as part of activities commemorating Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

The gathering is expected to attract policymakers, captains of industry, labour leaders, retired service chiefs, veterans, civil society organisations and other stakeholders from the public and private sectors.

According to the organisers, the event will provide a platform for stakeholders to examine Nigeria’s economic development, pension administration, retirement planning and the challenges confronting citizens after active service.

9 Years of Impact and Advocacy
Established in 2017, NEGF-Initiatives Concepts is a non-governmental organisation focused on economic advocacy, public enlightenment and policy dialogue.

Over the past nine years, the organisation has provided a platform for discussions on sustainable development, good governance, economic reforms and citizens’ welfare.

Through its media platforms, including the Global-Updates YouTube Channel, bi-monthly magazine and digital platforms, the Forum has continued to promote public discourse on economic policies, national development and service delivery.

The 2026 anniversary will feature a keynote lecture, goodwill messages and an awards ceremony to recognise individuals and institutions considered to have made outstanding contributions to national development and public service.

The Founder and Convener of NEGF-Initiatives Concepts, Hon. Adisa Yusuf Olamilekan, said the organisation would use the occasion to honour Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in service to the country.

“We are honouring those who have served the nation with diligence and retired with honour. We are also bringing serving high-ranking appointees to the table to discuss the future of life after service,” he said.

The organisers said particular attention would be given to the welfare of retirees and veterans from the military, paramilitary, civil service, academia and private sector.

Speakers at the event are expected to examine pension administration, economic policies, national development and practical measures for improving the quality of life of retirees.

The Special Guest of Honour is Prince Adewale A. Adeyanju, Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), while Prince Oluwaseyi Adegoke Adeyemo, Chief Executive Officer of Kristo Media Nigeria Limited, will deliver the keynote address.

The Mother of the Day is Dr. Hajia Bolanle Idaiyat Muse, Group Managing Director of Bomarah Group.

The planning committee said the personalities would bring their wealth of experience and knowledge to discussions on retirees’ welfare and sustainable national development.

As Nigeria marks 66 years of independence, NEGF said there was a need for the country to strengthen efforts toward building an inclusive economy that rewards service, protects vulnerable citizens and promotes inter-generational prosperity.

NEGF-Initiatives Concepts has called on government agencies, corporate organisations, civil society groups and members of the public to participate in the anniversary celebration.

The organisation described the event as “a convergence of ideas for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria,” while reaffirming its commitment to promoting dialogue, accountability, economic development and excellence in nation-building.

The anniversary is being chaired by Mr. Frank Odinukaeze, Chairman of the Planning Committee, while Hon. Adisa Y. Olamilekan, Founder/Convener of NEGF-Initiatives Concepts, will host the event.
