23 Days to Go: Lagos Truckers Urged to Secure Voting Rights as INEC's Final Voter Registration Phase Nears Deadline
Truck drivers and cargo operators across Lagos State have been urged to take advantage of the ongoing final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the registration window draws closer to its July 10, 2026 deadline.

In a public notice issued by the Lagos State Truck and Cargo Operators Committee (LASTCOC), truckers who have not yet registered as voters were advised to act immediately to avoid missing the opportunity to participate in future elections and decision-making processes that directly affect their livelihoods.

According to the notice, only 23 days remain before the registration exercise officially closes, making this the last opportunity for eligible truckers to obtain voter registration, transfer their registration to a new location, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or update their personal details.
The leadership of LASTCOC emphasized the importance of voter participation among truckers, describing the exercise as more than just a civic responsibility but a strategic necessity for protecting the interests of operators within the transport and logistics sector.

Truckers were reminded that many of the policies affecting road infrastructure, truck parks, levies, transportation regulations, and business operations are influenced by elected officials. Without voter registration and possession of a valid PVC, operators risk being excluded from decisions that shape the future of their industry.

Eligible truckers can complete their registration through online registration by visiting the INEC Continuous Voter Registration portal and begin the registration process or visit any INEC State Office or Local Government Area (LGA) Office across Lagos State to complete registration and other voter-related services.

The committee stressed that truckers play a critical role in sustaining economic activities across Lagos and Nigeria, moving goods and supporting supply chains that drive commerce and industry.
"Truckers move Lagos. Without a PVC, your voice is silent when decisions about roads, parks, levies, and your business are made. Your PVC is your power. Your vote is your protection," the statement noted.
The committee further called on truck operators, drivers, fleet owners, and stakeholders within the transport sector to mobilize colleagues and associates to participate in the registration exercise before the deadline.

As the countdown continues, LASTCOC is encouraging all truckers across Lagos State to come out in large numbers and ensure their voices are represented at the ballot box.

The committee believes that increased voter participation among truckers will strengthen their collective influence on policies and reforms affecting the transport sector, while helping to secure better representation in governance and public decision-making.

The notice was electronically signed by Alhaji Lukmon Shittu Zangalo, Chairman of the Lagos State Truck and Cargo Operators Committee (LASTCOC).
With the deadline fast approaching, stakeholders say the message is clear: register now, secure your PVC, and ensure the voice of Lagos truckers is heard.
