The Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has reinforced its commitment to strengthening journalism through digital skills, artificial intelligence awareness, and improved storytelling techniques with the successful completion of the second edition of its 2026 #NLNGChangeYourStory workshop held in Lagos.

The training brought together 40 participants from diverse media organisations to examine the evolving landscape of journalism shaped by artificial intelligence and digital communication.

Participants explored how emerging media technologies can enhance real-time reporting, expand audience reach across borders, and deepen engagement with audiences on digital platforms.

Speaking at the event, NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Sophia Horsfall, described the workshop as part of the company’s broader effort to strengthen engagement with the media while supporting professional excellence in journalism.
She noted that the initiative reflects NLNG’s belief that informed and responsible reporting plays a vital role in shaping public understanding of key sectors, including energy, economic development, and sustainability.

Horsfall encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the training to improve the quality and credibility of their work.

“NLNG views this engagement as a strategic partnership. We provide the energy that powers nations and generates revenue for our nation; you provide the information that powers our minds. We have been proud to host you, but our pride will only be justified when we see the ‘New Standard’ in your next feature, your next broadcast, and your next investigative report.

“As you head back to your various stations, I urge you to take the spirit of this workshop with you,” she said.

The programme featured expert-led sessions and practical training designed to equip journalists with tools for modern media practice.

Digital communication specialist Dan Mason led discussions on digital storytelling, while veteran journalist Taiwo Obe facilitated a hands-on Journalism Clinic focused on strengthening reporting techniques.

The sessions covered areas such as data visualisation, online verification, audience engagement, and maintaining a strong digital presence.

NLNG said the workshop forms part of its broader commitment to supporting the transformation of the media industry in the digital age.

With the latest edition concluded, the #NLNGChangeYourStory programme has now equipped more than 400 journalists with enhanced digital communication and social media skills across its various editions.
