Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has once again cemented its reputation as a model of fiscal responsibility, after being recognised as the Most Compliant Taxpayer in corporate Nigeria by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). The 2025 award, presented under the FIRS Compliant Taxpayer Award and Recognition Programme, marks the second year in a row that the gas company has claimed the top honour.
The programme, managed by the Taxpayer Services Department (TPSD), celebrates organisations that demonstrate exceptional diligence in fulfilling their tax obligations.
NLNG’s latest win follows its 2024 recognition in the same category and builds on its earlier accolade as Most Supportive Taxpayer in 2021, when the company was praised for helping FIRS surpass its revenue targets.
In a statement, FIRS commended NLNG for its unwavering transparency and consistency, describing the company’s tax culture as a benchmark for corporate Nigeria and a meaningful contributor to national revenue and economic growth.
The award was received on behalf of the company by Anne-Marie Palmer Ikuku, Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs; Ibukun Oni, Head, Tax Planning and Strategy; and Iwokiri Aprioku, Head, Public Relations, during the FIRS Day at the 2025 Lagos International Trade Fair organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
Reacting to the recognition, NLNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Philip Mshelbila, said the award reflects the company’s deeply rooted culture of responsibility.
“This recognition from the Federal Inland Revenue Service is deeply appreciated. It reflects the collective effort of our people, our Board, management and employees who remain committed to the highest standards of compliance and accountability. We take pride in contributing our fair share to national development, and we will continue to uphold practices that support Nigeria’s economic progress,” he said.
Mshelbila added that tax compliance remains central to NLNG’s values and its ambition to remain a globally competitive energy company driven by integrity, responsibility and sustainable impact.
