Osun 2026: “4+4 = 8” Becomes Rallying Cry as Adeleke’s Supporters Push for Continuity
As the countdown begins to the August 8, 2026, gubernatorial election in Osun State, political momentum is building around incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid. Supporters and aides have launched a symbolic campaign under the slogan “4+4 = 8,” framing the upcoming election as a divine affirmation of continuity and progress.

In a statement released by Hon. Femi Oluwasanmi, Special Assistant to the Governor and Secretary of the Ijesa South SAs Forum, the number 8 was described as more than arithmetic—it represents answered prayers, development, and the will of Osun citizens.

“August 8, 2026, must obey the collective will of Osun citizens,” Oluwasanmi declared, adding that Adeleke’s leadership has transformed Osun from a state of “stagnation to one of growth, innovation, and inclusivity.”

Governor Adeleke, who assumed office in November 2022, has been credited with several reforms and infrastructural projects. His administration claims to have:
- Paid off ₦12 billion in pension arrears
- Upgraded 200 primary healthcare centers and enrolled 29,000 pensioners in a health insurance scheme
- Constructed over 300 km of roads and launched a ₦100 billion infrastructure plan
- Delivered 332 boreholes across all wards and initiated a second phase
- Revived abandoned security assets and improved law enforcement morale.

These achievements have earned Adeleke endorsements from various sectors, including the Osun State House of Assembly and civil service unions.

Rumours of Adeleke defecting to the APC were recently debunked by his spokesperson, who reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to the PDP.
The maxim of Osun people loyal to the governor is 'Let the good work continue. Imole Leekan si."
