The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tincan Island Port Command, has announced a revenue collection of ₦747,079,233,259.91 for the first half of 2025. This figure represents a significant surplus of over ₦171 billion compared to the ₦575,359,447,011.23 collected during the same period in 2024.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Oscar Ivara on Thursday, the CAC, Comptroller Frank Onyeka described the revenue growth as a 29.85% increase, achieving 98.03% of the Command’s revenue target for the period.

Breaking down the revenue performance, Comptroller Onyeka stated that the Command generated ₦116.41 billion in January 2025, compared to ₦88.43 billion in the same month of 2024. In February 2025, the revenue surged to ₦103.25 billion, up from ₦100.25 billion in February 2024.

The months of March through May also saw steady growth, with collections of ₦128.27 billion, ₦145.02 billion, and ₦128.45 billion respectively. These figures exceeded both the monthly target of ₦127.06 billion and the corresponding 2024 collections of ₦115.11 billion, ₦95.70 billion, and ₦92.67 billion.

For June 2025, the Command generated ₦125.68 billion, a marked improvement over ₦83.19 billion recorded in June 2024.

In terms of trade processing, the Command received 3,450 Single Goods Declarations (SGDs) under the newly introduced Bodogwu clearance system, successfully processing and exiting 2,749 entries. Comptroller Onyeka emphasized the Command’s efforts in organizing several online and physical training sessions to educate stakeholders on the system’s operation.

He also revealed that 282 vessels berthed at the Command during the first quarter of the year, carrying import tonnage that included bulk wheat, malt, sugar, aluminum nitride, lab chemicals, drilling rods, and other general cargoes.

Comptroller Onyeka highlighted the Command’s achievements in anti-smuggling operations, especially the interception of illicit drugs and arms. He noted that illicit drugs worth over ₦8.05 billion were seized and handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The seizures included two 20-foot containers containing: 128 packets of Cannabis Indica, 97 packets of Crystal Methamphetamine, 1,735 packets of Cannabis Indica totaling over 1,000 kilograms.

The Command also intercepted arms and ammunition concealed in a 40-foot container carrying four used vehicles. The seized items included: Ruger P345 Pistol (Reg. No. 664 – 75425), 23 Gen 4 Austria Pistol (Reg. No. TO 6252), 100 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, 34 rounds of 9mm blank ammunition, 4 additional rounds of blank ammunition, 5 empty magazines, 2 handcuffs, one small iron flashlight

These items were handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) at Tincan Island Port Command, along with the consignee and declarant.

According to Comptroller Onyeka, “These handover exercises underscore the commitment of the Command to uphold and promote national security by safeguarding national borders against the influx of hard drugs and proliferation of small arms and light weapons, as well as promoting inter-agencies collaboration with all security agencies operating in the port.”

The CAC further emphasized the Command’s ongoing efforts to build strong stakeholder relationships through regular consultations with terminal operators, government agencies, Customs agents, captains of industry, civil society, and international organizations.

“These engagements were designed to ensure that policies, operational changes, and reforms were communicated and feedback received,” he stated. “The interactive sessions with captains of industries have so far yielded positive results.”

He also encouraged stakeholders to ensure accurate declaration of consignments to enhance trade facilitation.

Comptroller Onyeka noted that the Command has continued to organize regular press briefings and open forums to inform the public about developments at the port In line with promoting transparency. 

The Area Controller used the occasion to commend the Comptroller-General of Customs and Chairman of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi describing his election as “a divinely inspired success".
