Apapa Customs Comptroller to Meet NAGAFF Leaders to Boost Port Collaboration
As part of efforts to deepen collaboration and enhance industrial harmony within Nigeria’s port ecosystem, the Comptroller of the Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, PhD, will pay a courtesy visit to the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) headquarters on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
This engagement aligns with the broader initiative championed by Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and his leadership team to foster stronger partnerships with key stakeholders in the maritime and freight forwarding sectors.
According to a statement issued by NAGAFF’s Secretary General, Fwdr. Godfrey Emeka Nwosu, the visit will provide an interactive platform for dialogue between Customs leadership at the nation’s busiest port and members of NAGAFF, including young freight forwarders, national executives, board members, and the media.
“The ongoing Customs modernization programme is aimed at making Nigeria’s ports and borders more efficient, globally competitive, and trade-friendly,” the statement noted. “The reforms also target the reduction of smuggling, integration of e-commerce solutions, and the improvement of ease of doing business.”
Comptroller Olomu’s visit is seen as a tangible step toward translating the CGC’s reform agenda into meaningful outcomes at the command level. Stakeholders are expected to be seated by 12 noon for the interactive session, which will address pressing industry concerns and explore pathways to enhance trade facilitation.
This visit underscores the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to inclusive dialogue and sustained stakeholder engagement in the transformation of Nigeria’s port operations.
