The Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA) Onne chapter has ended the year on a high note with a charity event that showcased their commitment to giving back to the community. Hajiya Amina Aliyu Babandede, the Chair Lady of COWA Onne chapter, led the charge by donating food items such as rice, indomie, and cooking oil to orphanages and less privileged individuals in celebration of the new year.

But that's not all - Hajiya Babandede also empowered 40 widows with grinding mills and sewing machines, providing them with a means to earn a living and support themselves and their families. This gesture is a testament to the association's dedication to improving the welfare of its members and the community at large.

During the event, which was held at the Customs house Onne, Hajiya Babandede expressed her gratitude to the President of COWA, Mrs. Kekilemo Adeniyi, for her unwavering support and commitment to the association. She also thanked her husband, Comptroller Mohammed Babandede, for his encouragement and support.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Customs Area Controller, Area 2 Command Onne, and representatives from the Nigeria Immigration Service Wives Association, the Port Manager NPA Onne, and the Commandant NDLEA Port Command, among others.

The Priest Hood Orphanage home and the widows within the Ebubu Barracks community expressed their heartfelt thanks to Hajiya Babandede for her kindness and generosity. In response, the Chair Lady promised to do even more in 2025, and thanked everyone present for gracing the occasion.

This event is a shining example of the impact that organizations like COWA can have on their communities. By providing support and empowerment to those in need, they are helping to build a brighter future for all.
