Ogun State Set to Launch Electric Bike Initiative, Revolutionizing Transportation with Sustainable Solutions

Ogun State Set to Launch Electric Bike Initiative, Revolutionizing Transportation with Sustainable Solutions

Ogun State Government has unveiled plans to introduce electric bikes as part of its energy transition initiative, marking a significant step towards sustainable transportation solutions. The launch, scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, 2024, is the second phase of the administration's e-mobility program, following the successful introduction of CNG-powered buses last year.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, speaking during a meeting with the Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa'idu Ahmed Alkali, in Abuja, highlighted the importance of this initiative.

"The introduction of electric bikes will not only provide sustainable transportation solutions but also reduce transport fares across the state," he said. "Gas and electricity are cheaper than petrol-powered transportation systems, making this a win-win situation for our citizens."

The governor emphasized the administration's commitment to promoting alternative clean energy sources, crucial in addressing current economic challenges and transportation costs.

"We are excited to announce the official launch of this initiative, which will showcase our dedication to environmental sustainability and innovative public-private partnerships," he added.

The launch event will take place at the Arcade Ground, State Secretariat, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, and will feature the introduction of electric bikes as part of the e-mobility program.

This initiative is expected to revolutionize transportation in Ogun State, providing a sustainable and affordable solution for citizens.
