In a significant boost to the Nigerian Customs Service's (NCS) efforts to enhance revenue collection, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling operations in Lagos, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, Customs Area Controller of Apapa Port Command, has secured the support of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu.

During a courtesy visit to the palace, Olomu emphasized the critical role of traditional institutions in promoting fiscal compliance and sought the monarch's support in ensuring that stakeholders comply with government policies. He highlighted the NCS's revenue target of N5.1 trillion for 2024, with Apapa command responsible for generating N2.3 trillion, underscoring the importance of Lagos and Apapa port to the nation's economy.

Oba Akiolu expressed satisfaction with the Customs Service's efforts and called for stricter measures to combat drug smuggling, praising the collaboration between the NCS and NDLEA. He assured Olomu of his unwavering support and advised officers to prepare for their future by educating their children and maintaining their health.

The visit concluded with mutual assurances of cooperation and commitment to fighting drug smuggling, ensuring public safety and well-being. Olomu's visit to the Oba of Ijora, Oba Fatai Aromire, was also a success, strengthening customs community relations.

This royal endorsement is a significant milestone in the NCS's efforts to engage with host communities and promote fiscal compliance, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling efforts in Lagos.
