New Nigeria People's Party: Founder, Board of Trustees Intervene to Resolve Leadership Crisis
We, Templum Solicitors, represent the Founder and members of the Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria People's Party (our clients). They have instructed us to inform you of their decision to temporarily take over the party's affairs due to the ongoing leadership crisis and multiple court cases.
As you are aware, the party has been embroiled in a leadership dispute since the general election, resulting in the expulsion of Presidential Candidate, HE Alh. Musa Kwankwaso, and the dissolution of the Abba Rawu-led Executive on September 22, 2024, by the Board of Trustees in an emergency meeting in Lagos. Unfortunately, this has led to further crisis within the party, with factions filing different matters in various courts.
Our clients have informed us that the lingering disputes have put the party at a crossroads, leaving potential members unsure of which faction to join. In accordance with Article 12.3.4(1) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party 2022, the Founder, in conjunction with the Board members, has decided to take over the party's affairs pending the final determination of the leadership disputes currently before the courts. This intervention aims to ensure the party's integrity and stability during this challenging period.
