By Kathy Kyari
A brief handing over and taking over ceremony between the new Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Odaudu Salefu, and the acting CAC, Comptroller SD Adamu, took place at the Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service's Ibafon Apapa headquarters on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

In order to ensure that the Command continues to carry out its mandate in an effective and professional manner, the latter urged the officers and men of the Command to work together with him.

In addition, he advised the officers to recognize that change in leadership is a constant in both their professional lives and in everyday life.

Comptroller Salefu has extensive operational experience spanning Revenue, Enforcement, Valuation, Classification, ICT, Intelligence, and Administration as a result of his employment in numerous Customs formations and departments.
He held the position of Comptroller in the Department of Strategy, Research and Policy (SR&P), NCS headquarters Abuja, prior to his current appointment as the CAC Western Marine Command. He held this position until he was promoted to the rank of a Comptroller, the DC Compliance, Port Harcourt Area 2 Onne.

The CAC further requested that Officers and Men of the Command buckle up in order to boost the current pace of the anti-smuggling operation and build on the successes of the previous administration to reach a higher scorecard.

He highlighted the value of moral character and professionalism as preconditions for production while also admonishing the officers and soldiers of the Command to live by the watchwords of discipline and compliance.

In closing, the Comptroller expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General and his management team for placing their trust in him and vowed to carry out his duties properly and efficiently.
