The Area Controller of the Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Yusuf Malanta Ibrahim has said this while  receiving  the award of Revenue Mobiliser of the year 2022 by the Maritime Reporters' Association of Nigeria(MARAN).

As part of its 34th years anniversary, MARAN, the oldest and foremost maritime media association in the country, has recognised and celebrated some notable maritime stakeholders and organizations  who have shown outstanding performances in their areas of operations.

Malanta while showing appreciation for this award has promised that this award will further motivate him and his officers to do more in terms of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling activities which are the core mandates of the service.

''If we can successfully achieve the greater feat in revenue generation despite the pandemic and the economic crunch, I believe that next year will not pose much challenge to us.

''The CGC has been supportive of our efforts which have yielded tremendous results in terms of high revenue generation, trade facilitation and effective anti-smuggling activities of the command.

''I am happy to say that Apapa area command is the pride of the service and the nation in terms of revenue, anti-smuggling and trade facilitation'' Comptroller Yusuf said.

Although the CAC was not present to receive the award at the ceremony which held at the Ikeja GRA Lagos last Friday due to his tight schedule, the planning committee of the occasion presented him his plaque in his office in Apapa on Wednesday.

According to MARAN, the award was in recognition of the giant strides of Compt Malanta in revenue collection and transforming the face of Apapa Command.
Malanta said this is an award he cherish so much as it was from people whom he have tremendous  respect for and people closest to him.

''I have received so many awards, but this is the award I will cherish more than any other award. This is because the award was not only from MARAN which I have tremendous respect for but from the closest people to me.

''I had planned and eagerly looked forward to being part of the ceremony but couldn't make it because of my tight schedule.

''I have nothing else to say except to say thank you, MARAN for this great honour which I will hold close to my heart.

''May God be with all of us. Thank you for your support to me over the years, to the command, and the Service as a whole'', he stated.

Apapa Command, under the leadership of Comptroller Yusuf, has consistently posted five-star performances in revenue generation which is unprecedented in the history of the command.

The command has generated a sum of N790.630 billion from January to September 2022, while targeting a trillion naira revenue mark before the close of the year, a figure, if achieved, will be an unequalled feat that is unprecedented in the history of the service.
