COMTUA debunks story linking its president to politics
COMTUA has debunked a new story making the rounds that its President, Comrade Adeyinka Aroyewun is a member of the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP).
A press statement signed by the National Director, Publicity of association, Comrade Richard Uzoeghelu, said that it was the handwork of hoodlums and criminals who want to be extorting truckers.
Uzoeghelu stated that the story which has been in many social media and online news platforms was sponsored by one Fashina Shakiru, a member of the group that operates on Mile 2 in breach of its mandate.
The statement said that the story was due to the complaint of COMTUA against the illegal activities of hoodlums parading themselves as union.
The statement wanted the general public to know the following:
That the process through which the Lagos state Ministry of Transportation arrived at the decision to recognise COMTUA as the umbrella union of all transport unions, associations and groups is free, fair and credible;
The ministry of transportation was an unbiased umpire in the process that took us three months and an election to complete;
That the complaint of COMTUA against the illegal activities of hoodlums and criminals parading themselves as union is the main reason behind this malicious publication;
The claim of the author that the special adviser to Mr Governor on Transportation, Hon Sola Giwa is working against the Election victory of his Excellency Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu through the president of COMTUA ; whom he claim is in the opposition PDP is a SUBTERFUGE;
The author of this publication is indirectly looking for a shield in the APC to continue in their crimes against truckers and the maritime industry;
The government of Lagos has proven to be fair to Lagosians irrespective of tribe, religion and political affiliations;
The author is the media aid to the ECOMOG boys on mile two bridge. This group is the black sheep in the park and garages management Committee; and
The group in one of its publications claims to be on duty on truck on Mile two bridge in pure breach of its mandate; which is limited to commuter buses.
