PTML Customs Holds Leadership Seminar to Boost Senior Officers’ Performance

The Port & Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has strengthened its focus on effective leadership and improved service delivery with a seminar for senior officers of the Command.
The leadership seminar, held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Command’s Conference Hall, was designed to enhance professionalism, teamwork and leadership capacity among officers from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs.
The initiative was organised in line with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, to build a more efficient, motivated and service-oriented workforce.
Declaring the seminar open, the Acting Area Controller, DC Nura Ibrahim Miko, stressed the importance of effective leadership in advancing the Nigeria Customs Service’s core responsibilities of revenue generation, trade facilitation and suppression of smuggling.
He said the Command remained committed to initiatives aimed at improving the welfare, health and productivity of its personnel, including the recently introduced Work-Life Balance Initiative.
Participants received training on strategic leadership, effective communication, decision-making, conflict management and ethical conduct.
DC Miko delivered the first session, titled: “Leadership and Followership: Building a Culture of Collaboration and Excellence" where he commended the participants for their active participation and urged them to apply the knowledge gained from the seminar towards improving service delivery.
The Acting Area Controller also reassured stakeholders and members of the trading community of the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency and ease of doing business.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to two officers in recognition of their outstanding performance.
The recipients were Assistant Comptroller J.O. Ezekuse, Officer-in-Charge, Mile 2 Gate, and Chief Superintendent of Customs C.A. Ibrahim, Officer-in-Charge, Legal Unit of the Command.
The Acting Controller urged officers to remain committed to excellence and continue giving their best in service to the country.
He said the Command had mechanisms in place to identify and reward diligence, selflessness and efficient service delivery among its personnel.
