TPG Backs Gbajabiamila, Hails Chief of Staff's Leadership and Contributions to Renewed Hope Agenda
The Progressives Group (TPG), a coalition of progressive-minded Nigerians committed to promoting good governance, accountability, and national development, has declared its total support for the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, CFR, describing him as one of Nigeria's most accomplished public servants.
In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Comrade Shola Omolola, on Saturday, the group said its position was based on what it described as Gbajabiamila's verifiable achievements in the legislature, his outstanding constituency representation, and his strategic role in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the group, Gbajabiamila's tenure as Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives remains one of the most productive in Nigeria's democratic history, with over 800 bills passed, including landmark legislations such as the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), the Electoral Act 2022, the Finance Acts, and the Business Facilitation Act.
The group also praised his record as the representative of Surulere I Federal Constituency for two decades, noting that his numerous interventions in education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, ICT development, and community projects significantly improved the lives of his constituents.
"Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has consistently demonstrated that leadership is about service, vision, competence, and measurable results. His record speaks louder than political rhetoric," the statement read.
TPG further highlighted his legal background, noting that his qualification as a lawyer called to both the Nigerian Bar and the State Bar of Georgia, United States, has strengthened his capacity for policy development, legislative reforms, and institutional governance.
The group said Gbajabiamila has continued to play a pivotal role since his appointment as Chief of Staff to the President in 2023 by ensuring effective coordination within the Presidency and strengthening collaboration between the Executive, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and the National Assembly.
According to the statement, his behind-the-scenes leadership has contributed significantly to the implementation of the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.
The coalition described him as "a disciplined, loyal, strategic, and result-driven leader" whose experience and administrative capacity remain invaluable to Nigeria at a critical period in its democratic journey.
While urging Nigerians to focus on performance rather than political distractions, TPG called on political stakeholders and citizens to support leaders who have consistently demonstrated commitment to national development.
"The office of the Chief of Staff is central to effective governance. Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has continued to discharge this responsibility with diligence, professionalism, and patriotism. We believe he deserves the support of all Nigerians committed to the country's progress," the statement added.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that promote national unity, economic growth, democratic consolidation, and institutional stability.
