DR. SEGUN MUSA URGES PARENTS, EDUCATORS TO PRIORITISE MORAL UPBRINGING OF YOUTH
Dr. Segun Musa, a renowned freight forwarder, has called on parents, educators, and caregivers to deliberately refocus on moral upbringing as a critical foundation for raising a responsible and value-driven younger generation.
Speaking at a recent public event, Musa warned that the growing erosion of character among young people poses a significant threat to societal stability and long-term development. He stressed that moral decline, if left unaddressed, could undermine efforts aimed at youth empowerment and national progress.
During his address, Musa introduced what he described as the “2H and I” philosophy—Humility, Humanity, and Integrity—which he identified as essential virtues that young people must imbibe to navigate today’s increasingly complex social and economic environment.
According to him, the rising prevalence of disrespect, indiscipline, and ethical compromise among members of Generation Z should not be viewed as a generational failure but as a reflection of lapses in parental guidance and value transmission. He noted that achievements attained without strong moral foundations are often fragile and unsustainable.
Musa urged parents and guardians to lead by example, emphasizing that children are more influenced by what they observe than by verbal instruction. He further advocated intentional parenting practices, including spending quality time with children and actively monitoring their social interactions and digital exposure.
He highlighted contentment, respect for elders, and moral consciousness as key values that help young people resist negative influences and make responsible life choices.
Musa’s remarks, he said, should serve as a wake-up call to families, educational institutions, and the wider society to place character development at the centre of youth-focused initiatives, in order to nurture a generation of principled, disciplined, and compassionate future leaders.
