The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has held a special send-forth ceremony in honour of its outgoing Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) Isah Suleiman, following his redeployment to the Apapa Area Command. The event also featured tributes to retiring Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Audu Samson Edime, whose career with the Service has come to a close.
At the ceremony, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Wale Adenuga, described Suleiman as a steadfast and exemplary officer whose professionalism significantly enhanced the command’s administrative and public relations structures. He noted that the PRO “played a key role in stabilising administrative structures and enhancing public relations engagements within the command.”
Sister security and regulatory agencies—including the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, NAFDAC, NDLEA, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Immigration Service—also paid glowing tributes to Suleiman. Representatives praised his diligence, collaborative spirit, and ability to foster unity among agencies operating along the busy Seme corridor.
Speakers highlighted that under Suleiman’s watch, the command’s activities were consistently projected with “integrity and visibility,” earning widespread respect across the Abidjan–Lagos transport axis. His contributions, they said, reflected “sincerity, commitment, and exemplary service.”
The ceremony further honoured Deputy Comptroller Audu Samson Edime, who recently retired from the Service. Comptroller Adenuga remarked that retirement “marks the beginning of new opportunities,” explaining that the compulsory exit age was instituted to allow officers pursue new ventures after active duty. He shared examples of former public servants flourishing in agriculture and other fields, while a NAFDAC representative encouraged officers and retirees to take advantage of the agency’s flexible business registration options.
In his farewell remarks, Suleiman expressed profound gratitude to Comptroller Adenuga “for reposing confidence in him,” and thanked his colleagues in the Public Relations Unit for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.
The gathering of officers, partner agencies, and friends of the command was widely described as a celebration of service, loyalty, teamwork, and institutional cohesion.
