The Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, has condemned the continued extortion of commercial motorcycle operators (Okada riders) in the area and announced decisive action to enforce the Lagos State Government’s ban on Okada operations.

The Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, has expressed strong dissatisfaction over what he described as the “illegal collection of tolls” from commercial motorcycle operators within the council.

In a statement issued by his media office, Oloyede decried the activities of an individual identified as Alhaji Nurudeen Adedunmoye, who has allegedly continued to extort money from Okada riders despite the Lagos State Government’s ban on their operations in selected local government areas, including Oshodi-Isolo.

According to the council chairman, the development is “worrisome,” especially as it undermines state directives and empowers illegal operators who are already acting in defiance of the law.

To curb the unlawful activity and restore order, Otunba Oloyede has constituted a dedicated taskforce that will commence full enforcement from Monday, 17th November 2025. The team is mandated to arrest Okada riders operating in violation of the state ban and ensure strict compliance with existing regulations.

He noted that the local government “will not fold its arms and allow lawlessness or activities capable of undermining public safety to thrive within Oshodi-Isolo,” warning both riders and those extorting them to desist immediately.

The chairman further placed the general public and all Okada riders on notice ahead of the enforcement exercise.
