NLNG Reaffirms Local Content Leadership, Deepens Strategic Collaboration with NCDMB at 2025 Stakeholders’ Retreat

Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has restated its commitment to strengthening partnerships that drive indigenous participation and long-term value creation in the nation’s energy sector, as it hosted the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and other industry leaders to the 2025 Nigerian Content Stakeholders’ Retreat in Finima, Bonny Island, Rivers State.

The week-long programme, which featured strategic dialogues, community engagement, and capacity-building activities, underscored NLNG’s resolve to push Nigerian Content “beyond compliance” and position local capacity as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth.

At the Appreciation Night, NLNG’s Deputy Managing Director, Olakunle Osobu, said the Company’s Nigerian Content vision is rooted in leadership and long-term national impact, noting that NLNG was not only meeting regulatory requirements but also “setting new benchmarks for value creation across the energy landscape.”

According to him, the Company is “deliberately investing in the growth of indigenous capacity, technology, and enterprises to ensure that Nigerian participation becomes a driver of innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable national prosperity.”

“Our journey in Nigerian Content is about creating opportunities, and not just about meeting regulatory thresholds; building capacity, and enabling growth that endures, through collaboration with the NCDMB and our industry partners. We will continue to empower local enterprises and expand participation across the energy value chain,” Osobu stated.

Representing the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Board’s Director of Capacity Building, Engr. Abayomi Bamidele, commended NLNG for sustaining the Stakeholders’ Retreat as a platform for open dialogue, collaboration, and shared industry progress.

He described the gathering as an opportunity for both organisations “to deepen their collaboration beyond Nigerian content compliance and accomplish the business objectives of NLNG.”

He highlighted several successful joint initiatives including the Service Level Agreement (SLA), the Technical Working Group (TWG), and staff secondment, saying they demonstrate that a regulator and an operator “can sustain a symbiotic relationship that is beneficial to their operations and the wider economy.”

Bamidele also applauded NLNG’s achievements on the Train 7 project and its significant local content contributions, urging the Company to maintain the momentum and deliver on other strategic initiatives that would further position it as an industry leader.

The retreat opened with a movie premiere and a community contractors’ capacity development programme. Other activities included a mini-exhibition featuring Bonny community vendors, a tour of the Train 7 project site, social events, and a friendly sporting competition between NCDMB and NLNG teams.

The exhibition provided local entrepreneurs with an opportunity to showcase their products and innovations to industry players, reflecting NLNG’s continued efforts together with NCDMB to empower local suppliers and stimulate the Bonny Island economy.
