A new operational strategy is being implemented by the Kano State Police Command, which is aimed at increasing efforts to protect people and property throughout the state.
In a statement released on May 7th, 2025, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has met with key tactical commanders to review and strengthen security operations.
The high-level security meeting brought together heads of special units including Anti-Kidnapping, Anti-Daba, Rapid Response Team (RRT), Special Operation Squad (SOS), and Dragon to chart a more coordinated approach to crime fighting.
One of the major outcomes of the summit is the strategic sectorization of the State, allowing for round-the-clock patrols, quicker response to emergencies, and joint intelligence-led operations. The aim, according to the Command, is to create a more visible, responsive, and proactive police presence across communities.
Senior officials from the departments of Administration, Operations, State Intelligence (SID), and Criminal Investigation (CID) are also playing key roles in supporting this enhanced framework.
Among the new measures' highlights are: The division of the state into security sectors for the purpose of increasing patrol coverage and expediting incident response is known as operational sectorization.
Collaborative Crime Prevention Initiatives: Coordinated tactics are being used to prevent criminal conduct before it occurs. The Command's leadership is also collaborating across departments to guarantee a cohesive and successful security strategy.
The Kano State Police Command called on residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
