The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Seme Area Command generated ₦743,728,652.16 in total revenue, in February 2025. This according to the Area Controller, Dr Ben Oramalugo is a major step in reducing revenue leaks and improving border trade facilitation.

During his first media briefing at the Seme-Krake Border on Thursday, Dr. Ben Oramalugo, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Seme Command, outlined the command's major accomplishments since taking office on February 11, 2025.
He emphasised that the command's strategic restructuring has increased operational effectiveness, fortified border security, and promoted strong interagency cooperation.
Dr. Oramalugo claims that as a result of the command's stepped-up anti-smuggling efforts, illicit commodities valued at ₦267,054,172.00 were seized.  240 kegs of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), 600 bottles of Codeine syrup (100ml each), 203 pieces of used tyres, 56 bales of used clothing, 444 parcels of Cannabis Sativa (marijuana), 181 packs of Tramadol, and 1,809 bags of foreign parboiled rice (50kg each) were among the commodities that were intercepted.

Dr. Oramalugo officially turned over the confiscated marijuana to Mr. Dennis Owen Fingeri, Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Seme Command, in accordance with the extant interagency cooperation. Fingeri also praised the NCS for their ongoing assistance in the war on drugs.
Regarding the facilitation of trade, the CAC stated that the Seme Area Command processed 28,395.293 metric tonnes of produce, or 806 trucks, with a Free on Board (FOB) value of ₦7.85 billion ($4.99 million USD).  Furthermore, the Nigeria Export Supervision Scheme (NESS) brought in ₦39.26 million, while the month's total surcharges came to ₦2.43 million.
Dr. Oramalugo thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, his management team, security agencies, and the media for their ongoing support in maintaining economic growth and national security, while reiterating the command's commitment to promoting a more effective and transparent trade environment in line with the vision of Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
