Ekiti State Government Reaffirms Commitment to Business-Friendly Policies as Governor Oyebanji Visits Promasidor Plant
In a move to strengthen its partnership with the private sector and reiterate its commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, paid a working visit to Promasidor Nigeria Limited in Lagos State.
The visit, which took place on Tuesday, was aimed at facilitating the expansion of Ikun Dairy Farm, a key investment in the state's agriculture sector. Ikun Dairy Farm operates under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with Promasidor, and its growth is expected to enhance productivity and profitability in the sector.
During the visit, Governor Oyebanji emphasized the significance of Ikun Dairy Farm to the state's economy and its potential to boost local milk production while reducing the country's dependence on imported dairy products. He assured Promasidor's management of his government's readiness to address all challenges hindering the smooth operation and expansion of the project.
The Governor acknowledged the rising cost of production across sectors and emphasized the state government's vision for Ikun Dairy Farm to fulfill the purpose for which it was originally established. He noted that the government is committed to creating an enabling environment that will enable businesses to thrive, thereby creating jobs and stimulating economic growth.
"I am aware of some of the challenges in respect to land, irrigation, the need to scale up security, and also how we can structure a process that will reduce the cost of production so that you can make more profit," Governor Oyebanji said. "As a government, we see Ikun Dairy Farm as our baby and Promasidor as our strategic partner in our quest to develop our state and also share prosperity among all citizens."
The Chief Executive Officer of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Mr. Francois Gillet, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his visit and continued support for Ikun Dairy Farm. He described the visit as a demonstration of the Governor's commitment to fostering public-private partnerships in the state.
Gillet noted that the support from the state government has enabled the farm to scale up its operations significantly, achieving a daily milk production of over 6,000 liters. He added that this milestone not only reflects the project's success but also its potential to contribute substantially to local economic growth and employment.
The visit by Governor Oyebanji to Promasidor's plant is a testament to the Ekiti State government's commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that enables investors to thrive. The government's efforts to support the private sector are expected to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and improve the standard of living for citizens.
