Prince Olayiwola Shittu, former National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and Chairman of Skelas Group, is set to lead top maritime industry stakeholders as Chairman of an award dinner honoring the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.

The highly anticipated event, organized by Nigerian maritime journalists, will take place this Thursday at Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, by 6 PM. It is expected to bring together key players in the industry, including CEOs of government agencies, freight forwarding leaders, top ship owners, terminal operators, shipping lines, and regulators.

Maritime journalists from various professional associations have joined forces to recognize CG Adeniyi as the “Iconic Maritime Personality of the Year 2024.” This decision was reached unanimously by practitioners across print, electronic, and online media, including members of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), League of Maritime Editors (LOME), Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON), Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), Shipping Correspondents Association of Nigeria (SCAN), Online Maritime Media Association of Nigeria (OMMAN), Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP), and independent journalists.

The award acknowledges CG Adeniyi’s outstanding leadership since taking office, with remarkable achievements in revenue collection, anti-smuggling efforts, trade facilitation, national security, staff welfare, inter-agency collaboration, infrastructural development, ICT advancements, and corporate social responsibility.

The event promises to be a gathering of the industry’s finest, celebrating excellence and progress in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
