The much-anticipated award dinner in honor of the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, has been postponed by the Nigeria Maritime Journalists (NMJ).
Initially slated for Thursday, January 16, 2024, the event was intended to celebrate the CGC’s remarkable achievements in trade facilitation, exceptional interagency collaboration, and outstanding revenue generation, which have earned him widespread admiration within the industry.
However, in a statement released by Dele Aderibigbe, Chairman of the Organising Committee, the postponement was attributed to “circumstances beyond the control of the organisers.”
“We deeply regret any inconvenience the unexpected postponement must have caused invited guests,” Aderibigbe noted. Assuring stakeholders of the committee’s commitment to delivering a befitting event, he added, “A new date will soon be announced.”
While the maritime community awaits the rescheduling of this landmark celebration, the CGC’s accomplishments remain a testament to visionary leadership and the strides being made in Nigeria’s customs and maritime sectors.
