Kano High Court Blocks Zamfara Governor's Smear Campaign Against Matawalle

The Kano High Court has issued a restraining order against Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal and his associates, preventing them from spreading false information about Alhaji Bello Muhammed Matawalle  This order is effective until the court reaches a decision on the originating motion.
Governor Lawal has been visiting media houses, attempting to tarnish Matawalle's reputation by linking him to banditry and corruption charges without evidence.

This is seen as a desperate attempt to discredit Matawalle before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, given Matawalle's rising political profile in Zamfara and Nigeria.

The court's decision also restrains the Nigeria Police Force, Inspector-General of Police, Government of Zamfara State, Attorney General of the Federation, and various media outlets from participating in the smear campaign. Specifically, Vision Media Services Ltd and Tijjani Ramalan are barred from airing or broadcasting any issues related to Matawalle pending the court's decision.

The Governor of Zamfara State and his paid media agents are restrained from further smear campaigns against Matawalle.

Security agencies are barred from inviting, arresting, detaining, arraigning, or prosecuting Alhaji Masuda Abdulkadir.

Media outlets are prohibited from disseminating information regarding Matawalle pending the court's decision.

The public is advised to be cautious of misleading information spread by Governor Lawal or his proxies and to disregard such information. The Kano High Court's decision aims to prevent harm to Matawalle's reputation and maintain fairness until the matter is resolved.

Yusuf Idris Gusau, Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Zamfara state chapter, announced the court's decision, emphasizing the need to protect Matawalle's reputation and prevent further misinformation.
