Oyo State Government Partners with EIDU to Achieve 2030 Sustainable Development Goals for Education

The Oyo State government has reaffirmed its dedication to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals for Education, partnering with stakeholders in the basic education sector. This commitment was made clear by Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, during a staff sensitization training conducted by EIDU, a Germany-based education firm [1).

EIDU, which translates to "Individual Education," is introducing a digital literacy program in Nigeria, with Oyo and Katsina serving as pilot states. Dr. Adeniran emphasized the program's potential to establish a robust foundation for learners, enhancing the state government's efforts to improve reading, writing, and math standards in basic schools.

The program, launched on September 5th, 2024, aims to build e-learning and digital capacity in the state's basic education sector. EIDU trained 25 board staff members, including head teachers, class teachers, and quality assurance officers, equipping them with essential digital skills for the new session.

Mr. Silas Armandos, EIDU's Team Lead for Operations, highlighted the program's benefits, including access to curriculum-aligned content and immediate learning feedback for learners and teachers.

Over 300,000 learners have already been registered on the EIDU device.

Mr. Ignatius Attah, EIDU's Team Lead for Government Relations, noted that the literacy program will transform Oyo State's education landscape by providing increased learning outcomes and a strong foundation for schools.

The training was attended by key stakeholders, including the Executive Secretary of OYOSUBEB, Mrs. Olaide Ladipo, directors, education secretaries, and quality assurance officers.
