The Maritime Security Providers Association of Nigeria (MASPAN) and the Alumni of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron (AMANO) have commended the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and its leadership, led by Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, for their unwavering support in the fight against maritime security threats.

The praise came during the recently concluded MASPAN/AMANO 2024 Conference on Drugs, Human Smuggling, and Trafficking:
The Evolving Maritime Security Threats to Ships and Seafarers.

According to a press statement issued by the Head of Media, MWUN, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, MASPAN and AMANO expressed their deep appreciation for Dr. Adeyanju's sterling leadership qualities, foresight, and immense contributions towards a drug-free and human smuggling and trafficking-free maritime sector in Nigeria. The statement also acknowledged the goodwill message from Comrade Francis Bunu, Deputy President-General of the Union, which served as a morale booster for participants during the occasion.

The conference, organized by MASPAN and AMANO, aimed to sensitize the nation's maritime space on the dangers of drugs, human trafficking, and smuggling, and their impact on humanity and society. Prince Adeyanju, who is also the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Vice President Global, International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), was the Special Guest at the event.

The successful conference concluded with MASPAN and AMANO reaffirming their unflinching support for the President-General of MWUN and their continued commitment to the cause of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria. The event demonstrated the collective efforts of maritime stakeholders in combatting maritime security threats and promoting a safe and secure maritime environment in Nigeria.
