FG Gives NCS Order to Ignore 25% Fine for Vehicles Improperly Imported

... Opens a 90-Day Period for Import Duty Regularization

Kathy Kyari

Following the orders of the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and the Honourable Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has opened a 90-day window for the regularization of import tariffs on particular vehicle categories.

SC Abdullahi Maiwada, the National Public Relations Officer for Customs, revealed this in a statement on Friday.

The announcement claimed that the goal of the directive was to promote compliance and lessen financial hardship.

The 25% penalty and import fee on vehicles that were wrongly imported were to be suspended, effective from March 4, 2024, until July 4, 2024, by Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

All parties involved—vehicle owners, importers, and agents have been urged to take advantage of this chance to settle import duties on a regular basis within the allotted ninety days.
