Customs: TIPC Generates N240bn Revenue in Two and Half Months

As part of the initiatives to enhance its revenue drive while facilitating lawful trade, and in line with the core values of the Comptroller General of Customs' vision of Collaboration, Consolidation, and Innovation, the Tincan Port Command has reported a remarkable 41.82% increase in revenue over the value collected during the same period in 2023.
This was revealed by Area Controller Comptroller Dera Nnadi during a press conference held at the Command on Friday.
Nnadi stated that from January 2024 until the present, the command reported a total collection of N240,302,743,023.47), two hundred and thirty billion, three hundred and two million, seven hundred and forty-three thousand, twenty three naira, and forty seven kobo.
In addition, he stated that the Command's total collection for the month of January 2024 was N88,430,126,122.72, which is 7.89% more than the total for the month of January 2023, which was N42,536,336,038.11, which was N42, Two Billion, Five Hundred and Thirty-Six Million, Three Hundred and Thirty-Six Thousand, Thirty-Eight Naira, and Eleven Kobo.
According to him, in February 2024, the command produced N100,399,354,887.71, or one hundred billion, three hundred and ninety-nine million, three hundred and fifty-four thousand, eight hundred and eighty-seven naira, and seventy-one kobo.
Nnadi stated that this was 41.82% more than the amount that was gathered for the same period in 2023, which came to (N41,518,738,649.09) —five hundred and eighteen million, seven hundred and thirty-eight thousand, six hundred and forty-nine naira, and nine kobo.
The CAC reported that in March 2023, it had received (N42,473,262,013.00) forty-two billion, eight hundred and three million, one hundred and fourteen thousand, five hundred and forty-four naira, and eleven kobo, between March 1st and March 13th, 2024.
Regarding enforcement and anti-smuggling measures, Controller Nnadi stated that the command has not backed down from its anti-smuggling campaign in any kind.
"Being the lead agency at the port, the Enforcement unit has coordinated several 100% physical examination under my supervision in collaboration with critical stakeholders to ensure that the command is freed of any form of noncompliance to international trade". He said
Twelve rifles and six handguns, two (2) packets containing fifty pieces of live 9mm ammunition totaling one hundred rounds, were among the materials seized, according to the CAC.
23 bags containing 23 kg of material that was identified as heroin, 999 is marked in white and consists of ten (10) packets of one kilogram each, or 10 kg. Additional items discovered include flat-screen TVs, HP printers, Five (5) empty metal Jerry cans, Six (6) cartons with scanner machines, two washing machines, One (1) set of living room furniture, three (3) sets of bed frames, One (1) vacuum cleaner, three (3) microwaves, and one (1) table tennis.
Also recovered were, Flat screen Television sets HP Printer, Six (6) cartons containing scanner machines, Five (5) empty metal Jerry cans, Two (2) washing machines, Three (3) sets of bed frames, One (1) set of living room furniture, Three (3) used micro wave, One (1) used vacuum cleaner, Table tennis., One (1) sport bicycle, Two wooden crates of light fittings, One (1) wooden crate containing a motorized toy car, DSTV dish, One (1) used Samsung refrigerator, Four (4) sets of used sound systems, One (1) used barbecue grill, Two (2) used toasters, Three (3) used blenders, Sixteen (16) bags containing used clothes and personal effects.
Comptroller Nnadi credited the success of the achievements to the support of CGC Bashir Adeniyi and his management team, whilst commending the efforts of all officers of the NSC.
