FCCPC: BATN Clarifies Its Position

FCCPC: BATN Clarifies Its Position

Kathy Kyari

British American Tobacco Nigeria (BATN) would like to elucidate its stance in reaction to recent reports concerning the decision made by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) as follows:

The Nigerian Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) had previously made reference to the investigation in BAT's year-end 2022 Annual Report and, more recently, in our Half-Year Report covering the six months ending June 30, 2023.

The FCCPC entered into a consent order in December 2022, ending the aforementioned investigation and related actions. The fine has been settled by payments made by British American Tobacco (Nigeria) Limited and British American Tobacco Marketing (Nigeria) Limited.

BAT Nigeria has completely collaborated with the FCCPC's designated service providers and acknowledges the aforementioned monitorship and awareness initiatives. BAT is steadfast in its commitment to conducting business in accordance with Nigerian law.
