Crown Maritime Academy Congratulates MAN Oron
The Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) at Oron, Akwa Ibom State,celebrated her 2023 graduation ceremony on Thursday, 14th December.During the occasion, Encomiums was showered on its Rector, Commodore Duja Effedua (Rtd), by the Rector of Crown Maritime Academy, CMA in Lagos, Dr. Musa AKINYEMI.
The Rector of Crown Maritime Academy, CMA, who is also doubles as the Acting Secretary-General of the Association of Licensed Maritime Academies of Nigeria (ALMAN) explored every available adjectives to personify Retired Commodore EFFEDUA whom he had described as "selfless, courageous and uncommon", way-back in August 2021when he led a delegation of senior management team of the Lagos-based institution on an assessment and rare facility tour of the re-invigorated MAN Oron by the Retired Commodore during his first tenure.
According to AKINYEMI, no compliments could be enough to extol my brother Rector of MAN Oron for his manifest capabilities that enables his re-birth of Nigeria's first maritime training institution (MTI) to yet re-occupy and stabilize as the best, not only in Nigeria but across Africa, south of the Sahara. " We are too proud of the Retired Commodore", AKINYEMI prided.
Commenting further, Dr. Musa AKINYEMI said, "Our man must be a highly-responsible, accountable, dedicated and diligent officer in his hey days in the service", an observation which was substantiated by the Chairman, Crown Maritime Academy (CMA) Board Of Fellows (BOF), Retired Rear Admiral Godswill OMBO, PhD; OON; FCMAN, a former Director at the Defence Headquarters and former Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Naval Training Command, Naval Headquarters.
Meanwhile, according to Dr. Akinyemi, Crown Maritime Academy, CMA has adjudged it appropriate to honour EFFEDUA by instituting an annual Award with a monetary Prize titled the "Retired Commodore EFFEDUA Prize for Sustainable Maritime Education and Training in Nigeria". This Award is to be won by the Graduating Most-Outstanding Cadet in Character and Knowledge from MAN Oron.
