NAHCo Strike: Representatives Call For Immediate Talk To Stop Further Flight Delays

By Kathy Kyari
The chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Nnolim Nnaji has demanded urgent measures in response to the ongoing labor dispute involving the employees of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO).

The handling company's employees ceased operations this morning because to an alleged failure by management to pay salaries.

Domestic and foreign flights were impacted around the nation as a result of the development.

Nnaji requested the management of the ground handling firm to speak with the union's leadership right away in reaction to the development in order to prevent additional interference with aircraft operations across the nation.

He also urged the union to calm down and show care for the anguish the action was causing.

Nnaji requested the management of the ground handling firm to speak with the union's leadership right away in reaction to the development in order to prevent additional interference with aircraft operations across the nation.

He also urged the union to calm down and show care for the suffering the move would cause innocent Nigerian travelers both domestically and abroad.

Hon. Nnaji, reminded the workers that abandoning their duties now, when the election is already close, could have disastrous effects on campaigns and the movement of sensitive materials by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The workers were further reassured by him that his Committee would speak with management to determine how their complaints might be quickly handled.

Heavy flight delays both domestically and internationally were alleged to have already started as a result of the workers' strike that started early on Monday over welfare concerns.
