Container laden truck claims life :LASTMA/LASEMA rescue other victims
The Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has rescued passengers inside a commercial bus that involved in an accident with a 40fts container along Apapa- Oshodi expressway.
Mr Taofiq Adebayo, Dirctor,Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department LASTMA. said in his statement the accident took place by PM Filling Station, Cele inward Mile 2 area of Lagos.
Adebayo futher revealed that the accident which occurred around 1:09p:m claimed the life of the commercial bus driver instantly.
He said that the accident also involved two other private cars (Toyota Highlander AGL 366 FP & Toyota 4Runner AAA 353 FH).
Adebayo said that the corpse of the dead commercial bus driver had been handed over to his wife and family members who came to the scene of the accident.
He said that other passengers rescued by LASTMA officials were handed over to Medical personnel (Emergency Responder) who came to the accident scene.
The Pem. Sec. Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu in his statement said further information gathered at the scene revealed that the truck driver lost control due to mechanical fault (brake failure).
Oke-Osanyintolu said that the driver lost control while at top speed, before ramming into the vehicles ahead of it.
He said that unfortunately an adult male bus driver lost his life to the incident while the injured victim, four in number Three males and a female had been transported to hospital.0
