VREG: NAGAFF Tasks Consulting Firm To Partner CRFFN For Effective Sensitization Of Practitioners

The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has advocated for the consulting firm to the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning on the Vehicle Registry (VREG), FourCore Technology Solution Limited, to partner with the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) in a bid to ensure effective sensitization of practitioners.


The National Vehicle Registry (VREG) is the centralized database for all vehicles in Nigeria using their unique Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN). This registry stores detailed vehicular information such as specifications, ownership, and history of each vehicle in Nigeria.

Speaking at an interactive session between the consulting firm and top executive of NAGAFF recently, in Lagos, Deputy National President, NAGAFF, Mr. Ogochukwu Nnadi reiterated that freight agents need to understand the pros and cons associated with the VREG policy as introduced by the government on imported vehicles adding that a large number practitioners have limited knowledge about the policy.


Nnadi stated that the VREG initiative was a welcome development for shippers  , freight forwarders and dealers of imported vehicles , adding that more knowledge should be impacted on practitioner of vehicle clearance from the port in order for them to perfect the clearing processes and procedures.



According to Nnadi, the consulting firm should also engage and profile accredited freight forwarders and forwarding companies accredited by CRFFN to get first hand information about various challenges on vehicle clearance and tariff imposition.


He said "We met the consultant to the government on Vreg to let them know about the challenges we are facing.


"The visit with them was fruitful and very informative. NAGAFF will continue to advocates for the consultant to identify with  CRFFN for better operational activities."


On his part Project Director and Chief Operating Officer, FourCore Technology Solution Limited, Mr. Dennis Obeto assured NAGAFF officials of a robust working relationship with freight forwarders and the regulatory body; CRFFN.


He said that clients need are of priority  to them which according to him,  must be met in furtherance to ensure hiccups are addressed immediately.


He said the ecosystem of the port operations was quite complex for the consulting firm to handle but noted that "We are on to ensure that the work is in progress  and to carry everybody in the industry along.


Reacting on the partnership with the Council, the Project Director said that the collaboration with the CRFFN will be a noble idea adding that training and retraining of freight agents was key.


He also stated that the consulting firm has physically, engaged officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Insurance companies,Vehicles Inspection Services (VIS)  and other critical stakeholders across the six geopolitical zones adding that some of the port users have been trained on the VREG application at the customs college in Lagos
